WMAM CONFERENCES

The WMAM Annual Conference 2026, held on 10–11 August 2026 at Genting International Convention Centre, Pahang, successfully brought together the local and international waste management community to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships and advance circular solutions.

This year, we were proud to welcome 451 participants and delegates from 11 countries. With participation from China, Germany, Finland, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Denmark, the U.S., the Netherlands and Türkiye, the conference demonstrated the power of collaboration in turning waste into value.

We were honoured by the presence of distinguished guests including H.E. Jacques Werner, Ambassador of the Netherlands; H.E. Kirstine Vangkilde Berner, Ambassador of Denmark; H.E. Anne Vasara, Ambassador of Finland; Mr. James Law, President of ISWA; and Mr Hee Loy Sian, Chairman of SWCorp.

Our Gala Dinner was also graced by YB Dato’ Amizar bin Abu Adam, Pahang State EXCO, alongside H.E. Jacques Werner and Mr. James Law.

WMAM 20th Anniversary Annual Conferences 2025 was successfully held on 8 & 9 of September 2025 at Royal Chulan Kuala Lumpur with 544 participants and 25 exhibitors. The conference was officiated by YBM Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia. Mr. James Law, President of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) was present as a keynote speaker for the conference. This year’s conference, with the theme of “Smart Waste Management: Harnessing Technology for a Greener Tomorrow”, promises to be a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing and networking, gathering key stakeholders from across the waste management industry. The conference consists of plenary sessions with 27 speakers and parallel sessions with 14 speakers.

WMAM Annual Conferences 2024 serves as a vital networking platform, drawing participants from both local and international stakeholders within the waste industry. With this, WMAM is delighted to confirm on your attendance for WMAM Annual Conference 2024, scheduled to take place on October 2nd and 3rd, 2024, at the Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

This year’s conference, themed “Beyond Disposal: Accelerating Sustainable Waste Management”, promises to be a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing and networking, gathering key stakeholders from across the waste management industry. This theme explores advancing waste management beyond traditional disposal. Emphasizing on integrating innovative technologies for current waste management practices as well as beyond usual practices and promoting circular economy practices to build a more sustainable and resilient waste management system.

ISWA Beacon Conference Asia 2024 on 6^th and 7^th March 2024. The Conference is jointly organised by the ISWA, Waste Management Association of Malaysia (WMAM), Waste Management & Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS) and Indonesia Solid Waste Association (InSWA) with support from the Penang State Government. The ISWA Beacon Conference Asia 2024 is the first joint effort organised by three countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia) as part of Regional Program under ISWA.

The theme of ‘Realising the Value of Circular Economy’. The ISWA Beacon Conference is part of WMAM’s core activity to improve its members’ knowledge on waste management and update on the latest waste management policies, regulations, and technologies.
